TILE & GROUT CLEANING TIPS
Tiles are often beautiful easy to clean and durable, grout, on the other hand, is a different story. Its location and porous nature make it a challenge to maintain it. However, here are some handy tips that will make the cleaning task less painful.
When it comes to spots and spills on tiles and grout, warm water and mild soap is the way to go. Cleaning products are sometimes not necessary because that is when your surfaces begin to deteriorate. Water and soap are effective and gentle cleaning agents; the best thing about it is they are affordable.
Avoid products that will add shine to your surfaces because these products contain wax-like substances that with time will build over on your surface later giving it a dingy, dark appearance.
Once a week, ensure that you sweep your floors to remove dirt and use doormats at each entrance to the house. It will ensure that oil, dirt, sand and mud will not make it into the house to mess the floors.
To avoid build up, ensure that you regularly wipe the surfaces with warm water and mild soap. Wipe away any spills immediately to avoid having stains and scratches.
When you do mop the floors ensure that you use a neutral cleaner, do not use more than the recommended amount because this might leave a dark film on your surface. Ensure that you remove any loose debris before you start cleaning then test out the cleaning method in a small area.
To avoid discoloration on the grout avoid using chlorine bleach instead make a baking soda paste then using a nylon brush or an old toothbrush scrub then rinse with water.
By applying a grout sealer at least once a year you can help protect and keep the grout clean.
Or you make it easy on yourself & call a professional to clean your tile & grout floors.
