WHAT IS THE BEST CLEANING METHOD?
The first three are are known as "DRY" or "LOW MOISTURE" methods. There main purpose is for maintenance cleaning or commercial work. Companies that use these methods advertise they, " Do Not Leave A Wet Soggy Mess", this might be true but they do use moisture and "WET" the carpet to a degree. All carpet cleaning methods use water.
#1-Dry Foam Or Encapsulation:
The carpet cleaning technician will apply a foaming solution to your carpet, with out rinsing the cleaning tech. will immediately vacuum the soiled foam solution, or let it dry before vacuuming the soiled soap crystals. Some cases the technician will leave it for the customer to vacuum. This cleaning method has been around along time. There are many types of machines used for this method. With chemistry being better developed, this cleaning method is gaining more credibility. This method is not favored for residential cleaning. It's most popular use is for commercial carpet cleaning. This method can clean large areas in a short amount of time & dries very quickly.
Instead of shampoo, a solvent solution is applied over the surface of the carpet pile. Then a rotary machine is used to "Buff" the carpet with a large absorbent cotton or micro-fiber pad.
While rotating this pad will agitate the carpet while absorbing dirt & moisture. With chemists developing better solutions & more effective absorbent pads, some cleaners have had phenomenal results using this method. It is still being debated, how much soil is removed from the carpet especially if pads are not changed frequently. This cleaning method can make the carpet "LOOK" clean if performed properly.
This method called dry-compound uses an absorbent powder which is mixed moist with water or a dry solvent. It is then spread over the carpet surface. A double brush machine is then used to work into the pile while supposedly absorbing soil off the fibers. The powder is allowed to dry & then vacuumed out. The benefit is the carpet can be used almost immediately. The down fall of this method is that it can leave dry sponge particles at the base of the carpet. This method's ability to clean heavily soiled carpet is limited in the fact that it is not rinsed, possibly leaving many pollutants remaining in the carpet. This method has it's place at times, but is the least preferred by professionals.
This method uses a cleaning solution along with very hot water under high pressure forcing the cleaning solution into your carpet at the same time rinsing & extracting the solution along with the dirt & grime out of your carpet. This is the only method which flushes the soil out of your carpet & other fabrics. This is the most popular method of cleaning carpets. It has the ability to restore heavily soiled carpet, removing the maximum amount of soil. It also requires the greatest investment in training & equipment. Some companies may use portable carpet cleaning machines to clean with. But these portables can not produce high heat. Some portables can't produce any, the hot water they use is only as hot as your hot water heater will produce out of your bath tub or sink.
The truck mounted machine which is mounted in a van, truck or trailer, only bringing in vacuum hose & solution line in to home. The truck mount machine creates it's own hot water at high temperature's and uses high water pressure to inject the cleaning solution into the carpet. This will break up the bacteria, dirt & pollen in the carpet. The machine also creates a very strong vacuum or suction that extracts & pulls the dirt & cleaning solution out of your carpet into a recovery waste tank which is also mounted in the van. I've been in the carpet, upholstery & floor care cleaning industry for several years. The "Hot Water Extraction" or "Steam Cleaning" method produced by a truck mounted machine is by far the most effective way to clean your carpet. It's the most powerful piece of cleaning equipment & the only machine that really rids your carpet of dirt & soil, fungus, harmful bacteria, tobacco residue, pollens & dust mites.
As the owner & operator of Advanced Carpet Cleaning, I have chosen the truck mount hot water extraction method to provide our cleaning services. I have used this method for well over 25 years, in my opinion & experience this method is by far the best method for your carpet, upholstery & floor care cleaning needs.
